How to prevent black bumper marks from your vacuum

Rubber bumpers on vacuums are a godsend - they prevent nicks on furniture legs and walls due to overzealous vacuuming. But the not so good part is that these bumpers often leave unsightly black or gray marks on light colored walls. Sometimes it would seem a dent would be better than a black mark, and if you have ever tried to wash these marks off, you have discovered they are pretty stubborn!

Fortunately, there is a simple trick that lets your vacuum's bumper do the job, while not leaving ugly marks behind. Simply take masking tape and tape all the way around the bumper. Then next time you accidentily bump into the corner of your wall or door frame, it won't leave a dent or a mark behind!
