Is buying cold brew tea for iced tea worth the money?
Many tea companies, including the ever popular Lipton and other famous companies such as Tazo Tea, Celestial Seasonings and Twinnings now offer their teas in a cold brew format. But is it worth the money?
If you find you are constantly boiling hot water for iced tea, it might be worth it. While boiling one bot of water doesn't seem like much, it can add to a significant chunk to your electric bill over the year.
Watch for sales. Many stores put all their tea by a specific brand on sale for the same price, making it worthwhile to stock up.
There are often more appealing iced tea flavors available for summertime than there are in hot tea brews. Peach and passionfruit are great iced tea flavors but aren't very popular for hot tea.
And lastly, you don't have to heat up your house. If iced tea sounds great on a day when it is over 100F, the last thing you want to do is boil water for iced tea and heat up the house and wait for it to cool. With cold brew tea, it is ready in about five minutes, and you just need to add ice before drinking!
