Why you should always get rain checks for out of stock products
Don't you hate it when you are hitting the grocery store for that perfect deal to combine with your coupons and discovered another hardcore couponer beat you to the bunch? Always get rain checks for out of stock products.
The downside is that rain checks can take a longer time to get the cashier or customer service to make out to you - but to those who hand cashiers hundreds of coupons at a time, it isn't that much different!
The other thing that is the best thing about rainchecks - and why you should look for products on sale that aren't on the shelf but that you weren't planning to purchase that day anyway - is that you are buying yourself some time to find coupons for those products. You have time to order some coupons from a clipping service or maybe a coupon will come out in next Sunday's inserts that when combined with the rain check will make it free.
You will want to make sure you don't forget to use those rain checks. If you tend to get a lot, keep a list along with the expiry dates so that you remember you have them. If you keep all pasta related coupons in one spot, and have a raincheck for 20 jars of spaghetti sauce, keep either the raincheck with them or put a note in with them so that you not only remember you have the raincheck but you can see what coupons you get for that same product to combine with.
