Why do bullies bully?

Bullies tend to bully because they want to feel power over someone else. But what is the root cause behind the bullying?

Some feel insecure, and bullying makes them feel better about themselves, when they make someone else feel insecure.

Some have a bad home life where they are constantly belittled or bullied, either by a parent, sibling or relative. They mimic this behavior to make others feel how they do at home.

Others do it to make themselves appear popular, or to make themselves look tough and in charge to others.

Some bully to get attention, often due to lack of attention they receive at home.

Some do it out of jealousy.

Some do it because they are being bullied themselves.
