Giving a room an inexpensive makeover

Did you know what the easiest way to give your house or a specific room an inexpensive makeover, and one you can do yourself? Simply by changing the color of your walls. Tired of that light green in the living room? Repaint it to an ecru which works with nearly all furnishings.

Is your daughter tired of the pink on her walls? Pick out one of the accent colors in her bedding, and paint the walls that color - even take a pillowcase into the paint store and they can color match it exactly?

Or simply repaint one wall as a feature wall, taking the lighter color from the other walls and darkening it multiple times.

The most important think when repainting a wall to freshen the look without spending an arm and a leg is to make sure that the new color is different enough from the old color, but also compliments the furnishings and accents in the room. This will help your budget because you won't be so inclined to run out and buy a new sofa to match your newly painted walls because you discovered after the fact that the shade of blue you chose clashes with the color of your sofa.
